I get it…. If you’ve followed my content for any length of time, you’ve likely seen a swack (official terminology for ‘a lot’, ‘copious amounts.’ or, ‘doesn’t this guy ever stop?’) of my content…. What makes it even more frustrating is, if you shake your head and say, “Marc… I haven’t seen any of your content!”
If you are like me, you are put off by how long it takes to get the ROI (Return On Investment) on the marketing efforts. Even choosing the platforms to post on can be a daunting decision.

Consumers have their own distinctive needs and intentions in searching for products and services on the net. Your goal is to identify them so that you’ll pop up in the top searches. Platforms like Quora and Reddit are avenues to do your research and find authentic questions that people are googling.
“Think about your customers and their journey. What information do they need most that relates to your products and services? You should become the answer to their problem when they consume your content. Google provides preferential treatment when you provide valuable content to users’ queries. When you rank better, you get more clicks and chances to win that business,” says Watkins.
2. Share why you care, and they will care.
Show them why you care. When you do, they will care about what you share. As Maya Angelou says,
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Genuine care for your customers easily comes to the surface when you know the “why” in what you do.
The goal of your strategy must be to get known, liked and trusted. When we provide valuable content that answers their questions and serves their needs, we evolve into becoming their trusted advisor.
Here is where the values of abundance and generosity become a differentiator. By providing them with helpful advice and tips across your chosen platforms, you become their trusted partner and authority.

3. Be newsworthy to increase your visibility and credibility and translate it to profitability.
When you’re newsworthy in Google’s eyes, you’ll get credible backlinks to your website. This is a critical part of search engine optimization. And will translate to an increase in traffic to your website.
Press releases outlining new initiatives, community projects or your own philanthropic pursuits could give you mainstream media coverage which is not only a boost to your local markets but gives credibility to your brand.
Not only is it a visibility booster, but according to Business Networking International (BNI) it can be fined as Visibility + Credibility = Profitability. Google works the same way. It helps to get credible backlinks to and from news platform websites to boost your credibility with Google.
AS mentioned before, consistency in creating valuable target-specific content is a must. Also, forging strategic relationships with non-profits can make you newsworthy and socially responsible in the eyes of your target audience.
Don’t fall into these traps
It is never a good practice to pay to get backlinks. Entering into questionable practices can cost you your reputation and money in the long run. Google shuts down websites for these black hat practices. You won’t be able to use that domain anymore and need to change your web address, rebrand and redo your website.
Investing in short-term band-aids such as Pay-Per-Click and Ad Spend will get you an immediate response. But they won’t have a lasting effect as SEO brings. Once you stop spending on ads, your listing goes away.
Lastly, before moving into the SEO space, do your research. With the abundance of information on the Internet covering this topic, it is easy to learn what you need to do to succeed. But please, don’t get fooled by hyped solution providers that are too good to be true.
